The Conservative Agenda?

Call be "so bitter" but it would appear that the conservative agenda is about telling the working people that they should not rely on the power of the government to harness our economic might to serve them (ie education, health care, safe water and food, clean air, protected natural open space, equal protection under the law) and that they should depend only on themselves, and buy a gun....you're gonna need it.

Ok, so...I'm kinda stepping in again - I really don't want this to become a "that party vs X party" discussion, so I'm trying not to see it derailed. Again. Can we have a discussion on the Conservative Agenda without going into "this is why the other side is wrong" rhetoric? Is it possible? If not, I'm gonna respectfully ask the mods to close it, 'cause I think I have all my questions answered.

But...how am I gonna know which candidate to vote for if someone doesn't tell me which ideology is better because JUST LOOK AT THE FACTS. Apparently, everybody's facts are wrong though....and they are blind...so I'll need to look at much more arguing in order to come to a decision.

Ideas are awesome. We need different perspectives so that we can see as many facets as possible. The problem I have is when facts are ignored, truths overlooked all because they are difficult to digest. Solutions will only be brought forward when those who wish to move forward face the answers without fear.
I am drunk when I type this but I am also right.
Im sorry but some voices need to be silenced. To start, the voice of ignorance.

Jesus stu I honestly did not take you for a brainwashed liberal drone.

I seem to recall that Clinton (not HRC) balanced the US budget, and GW Bush destroyed it after his first term in office. If so, then I'd say that some Democrats have made contributions to the economy, and some Republicans have destroyed it. It may also depend on where the money goes. Conservatives spend a lot of money on security, while Democrats spend a lot of money on social programs. We need both, in equal (and sane) measures, IMHO.

You recall wrong. Clinton brought America to its knees and even with as big an idiot as Bush was, he brought it back from the brink. Enter the end of his term and we were headed into a small recession that Obama turned into by what all accounts can call the first depression since the grapes of wraith. Whatever information you have that you based your opinion on has clearly been infected by liberal fantasy.

Dude...it’s was Bush’s second term when Wall St. crashed the economy....you can’t blame Obama for that.
Granted it was Clinton who destroyed some of the banking rules that would have helped prevent it, I don’t disagree that he is partially responsible one bit.
But Bush had two terms to “fix” the economy...instead, the bullshit bubble popped.

Please correct me if I am wrong but central to the conservative agenda is the reduction of government from the lives of the people. Conservatism, as it exists in the USA insists that after the 1930's the federal government started growing out of proportion to the actual needs of the governed. If you look at the numbers of people the Federal Government employs now in proportion to the general public and compare that ratio to the numbers during say the Wilson administration you see the startling difference.Conservatives insists that taxing the public in order to pay for disproportionate amount of government workers is simply robbery. The conservative agenda reinsists that government is like a cancer, or a parasite that will grow and grow without control unless the public takes charge and arrests its grown by cutting off the tax money it depends upon.
That is the main thrust of the anti tax movement. The idea is that if there are fewer taxes collected then the government will have to shrink. So the conservatives push for and achive reductions in taxes which everybody likes, the public is all for not paying taxes wherever possible and few politicians openly state that they want to raise taxes.
The problem has been that while the public is on board for reductions in taxes they are rarely on board for reductions in government services. The result has been that while we take in less revenue we still spend what we did before, and even more so.

Well, I used factcheck.org, but if that's not a reliable non-partisan website, then sure, go ahead and post another reliable, non-partisan website. I'm fine with that.

It would seem that the conservative agenda is more concerned with the growth of government and level of taxation as opposed to levels of debt as seen by this graph. That is not to say that conservatives do not scold us for our national debt but looking at debt growth over time indicates a disconnect.

20 Things Conservatives Want For Americans
John Hawkins | March 10, 2015

Conservatives spend a lot of time talking principles, but not as much time as they should telling people what they want to do for the average American. On the other hand, liberals talk incessantly about what conservatives want to do “to” the average American, but almost all of it is wrong. Here’s what conservatives actually want for Americans.

1) A country where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed, but isn’t dragged down by an insistence on equal results.

2) A safe neighborhood where you can let your kids go out and play in the front yard without having to worry about them being shot, kidnapped or coerced by gang members.

3) A country as free as possible of illegal aliens who commit crimes, use taxpayer services without paying, take jobs that should go to citizens and drive down wages for Americans.

4) An environment with clean air, clean water and clean soil.

5) The right to worship the God you believe in as you please, without interference from the state, as long as you don’t hurt anyone else.

6) An environment where Americans can reap rewards as large as the market is willing to pay for their particular talents, work ethic or unique skills.

7) The dignity of supporting yourself with a job, free of dependence on the government.

8) A government that will stay out of your way and allow you to reach your full potential free of interference.

9) The freedom to live as you please and do as you please with your property without interference from the government.

10) The ability of parents to be able to send their children to a school, public or private, that best fits their needs.

11) The protection of the world’s foremost military and a government that is willing to use it to insure the safety of American citizens.

12) Medicare and Social Security programs that are financially solvent long-term so they can continue to benefit retirees.

13) The freedom for people to speak their minds without being censored by the government.

14) A decent culture so that children have a chance to grow up without being morally corrupted.

15) A responsible government that keeps order in the streets, protects Americans from crimes, and enforces basic regulations to keep people from being taken advantage of by crooks or unscrupulous businesses.

16) The ability for women to achieve their fullest potential, whether that’s by being a corporate CEO, opening their own business or staying at home as a full time mom.

17) A country where people are judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

18) Low taxes, so that Americans get to keep more of their hard earned money instead of sending it to the government.

19) A country where everyone from the President of the United to States to the humblest citizen has to obey the same laws or face the same potential penalties for breaking those laws.

20) A fiscally responsible government that takes great care to wisely spend the tax dollars it collects.

I wouldnt say this is all of it but its good for this purpose.

It would seem stu that you get the majority of your information from bias sources. Theres good news in this, now that you know you can up your misinformation to actual information thereby making more informed choices.

Ignore facts - check.
Discount source - check.
Insult intelligence in vague or poorly shrouded way - check.

Very predictable.
Show your factual information that proves Stu’s chart otherwise and put your money where your mouth is.
(BTW - I hardly think Breitbart’s is an unbiased source just fyi)

That's pretty insightful. They are essentially saying to pay your taxes but you should never withdrawal the benefits that those taxes are used for.

100 Naked Women Hold Mirrors Up to RNC to Protest Anti-Women Rhetoric

"As a human being, I want to stand up against Trump and other Republicans whose hateful speech towards women, immigrants, LGBT people, and all 'others' is poisoning this nation"

On Sunday, the day before the Republican National Convention (RNC) began, 100 naked women held up mirrors to the RNC-hosting Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland as a political statement against the anti-women rhetoric of the Republican party.

I am in awe and absolutely speechless. Is this a sign of the coming of the Age of the Divine Feminine? 1968 redux?

I will leave it to mystics and psychics to determine that.

@hush, do you want me to remove the images and the video? This is clearly a violation of rule #1 in don'ts. I can just keep the link to the source article while removing the graphic stuff. It is OK if you warn me first. But if you ban me without a prior warning, you might turn me into a martyr.

#14 is where I think to myself “get the fuck away from me.” That’s where they lose me, and why I will never vote for them as long as they keep #14 in the list.

Conservatives = the moral arbiters? What a joke.

The other 19 entries in the list I have no particular issue with.

Cheers,
Ian

Interesting. Im nit sure that all conservatives would agree with everything stated in that list. Its not like the list was put out by the gop etc. Even so I agree its probably not a good thing for them to attune to. Not like anyone should.

Hmmmm... after reading some of these replies has anyone given much thought to 'Four Years Of Freedom ??

Picture this:
what would happen if we ran the country for four years government free? Allowing each 'communitee' to design & run its own course.
Would it create anarchy? Desention? New platforms of reform? Innovation? Gratitude?

hmm... just harken back to the true grass roots democracy..the ancient Greeks...city states.

it worked for them for ages
