Anyone care to Type the Twilight characters?

About S. Meyer, the author of Twilight, I also want to point out how, even if the books are written mostly between other things she was doing (hence, kind of messy), she is able to mix up details from early moments into important later moments, which requires strong subconscious planning process of her Ni, a sense for much greater picture than the one she presents at any time. She very kindly repeats and re-emphasizes critical passages or phrases, to keep the reader involved. As most as possible, she writes each book to be self-contained, and to remind what has happened before. Very caring and responsible Fe, shown there, if you ask me.

Also, when INFPs write, they are insecure perfectionists, and won't allow things to be that messy. Only the Judgers are bold enough to publish messy work and get away with it. She admits it; it bothers her, but it doesn't bother her that much to go burn her own books or something.

My guess is that the author (Stephenie Meyer) is an INFP. From what I've read of her work, she's very much an Fi type, and her zany notions about how vampires, werewolves, and the like work are clearly Ne. I mean, how could anything but Ne come up with glittering vampires?

Therefore, the main character Bella is very likely written as an INFP, seeing as the writer seems to be pouring herself into the character. (I would assume this is a common trait with IxFP writers.) She's emotional, open to possibilities, non-judgemental, and the only thing about her that isn't INFP is that she's got a lot more guts - I'm sure because in the author's perfect world, she does too.

Exactly, which will also explain her perceptiveness inherited from her ENFP mom.

Alice -the psychic- Cullin is written as a wierd mix of ENFP and INFJ, which comes off to me as the writer knowing an INFJ but only really understanding that INFJ's ENFP side, or worse, simply forcing her own sensibilities into the character because she (the writer) can't grasp how INFJ minds work, in which case she's mocking INFJs with this character (unlikely for an INFP to do). I think it's most likely the former. She knows an INFJ in real life who does a lot of that 'psychic' stuff, but wants her to loosen up and be more like this character. Clearly Twilight is the INFP author's fantasy world where everything is as she wants it.

She's clearly an Ne-dom using Ni shadow function and I'd say she's more Fi/Te than Fe/Ti. She doesn't read people very well, but is good at organizing with her Te.

Jacob is clearly an ISTP. He sees things as they are, lives in the now, fixes things, is quiet, and generally detached emotionally. He's the reliable guy that women seem to always look at as a back up plan in case the 'ultimate guy' doesn't pan out, and I doubt there is another type that would fill that role in the INFP author's mind better than an ISTP - especially when her real life father is likely this type. Freud would be proud.

Yes, he has well developed Fe as an ISTP.

Jasper... the crazy one that seems alarmingly close to coming out of the closet... is probably the least likely to have any real life character reference other than an ENTP that annoyed the author when she was younger and she still has no idea why.

More like ISTJ, Si-dom with Te to get on Fi-dom Bella's nerves. He lacks Fe.

And then there's the villain of the story - Victoria. I have to stop a moment and swoon over the actress here... (Rachelle Lefevre). Rowr... okay... where was I? Oh yes, this chick is CLEARLY based on the INFP author's ENFJ worst nightmare in real life. It is clear that this character is based on an ENFJ who found fault with something the INFP did (and of course INFPs never do anything wrong) and when the ENFJ tried to correct the behavior, the INFP decided she was a villain and was out to get her. This character has very clear ENFJ traits. She doesn't quit. She bases all of her motivations on her ideals. And, she's a flaming bad ass. If you doubt this character was based on an ENFJ, you don't know one, heh.

And James is ISTP, Laurent probably ENTP.

(You guys didn't seriously think I'd bring this up and not turn it into a fairly serious discussion about Jungian archetypes did you?)

errr im siding with Youhemmein on this one...sure Jake starts out nice, and with the first two books, I would be on team jacob...but...book three he totally brings out his manipulative side. Edward, while seemigly jerkish...is really not...Hes always let bella maker her choices, while she always chooses badly, he always respects her. If you ask me, the way edward is written is more INFJ, than any of the others. Especially if you read the leaked fifth book. Hes unsure of himself, lonely, and not very social. He is an idealist in thinking he could live with her as a human forever, and yet, so self doubting he fears he wont be able to. He sacrifices his happiness above all else.

Where as Jake...he just wants the girl...sure Jake loves her, Jakes there for her...But it seems to me Jake Is taking advantage of the whole broken heart thing. Especially considering what he does in book three...Hes desparate. its sad...
There is no way Edward can be any other type. The guy reeks of Ni.
Bella's father, Charlie, I think is ISTJ, which completes the picture. INFJ, INTJ/ENFP-hybrid, ESTP, ISTJ. You can find similar groups in many good stories, because many of the classical stories are written by INFJs. ^^
Yeah, having the same functions would explain the similarity between the two.
About the qualities of the author, sure, style is very flawed, but she is a passionate and sincere person. There's something special in how she creates the Bella character, before all, charming with all the fuss and unnecessary worries on small things. Bella is the only reason for me to keep reading, because from the very first page she strikes strong empathy within the reader. In almost every chapter there's a moment when I just want to hug her, lol.
The others Rosalie is an example of an ESTJ disagreeing w/ INFP Bella's viewpoints and both the Cullen parents are ENFJs. Nessie is INFP, like mother like daughter.

Bella was looping Fi-Si in the entire half of New Moon. She happens to be an INFP using Si over Ne.
And Emmett is ESTP btw
If you want me to type Bella's friends since they deserve better, I'd say
Mike is clearly ESFJ, Jessica an ESFP, Eric a definite INTP, and Angela's ISFJ.

Bella is definitely Se PoLR by definition
Eddy reeks of evident Ni, CANNOT be mistaken just...Te PoLR this dude feels>objective logic and Jake detached guy questioning systems went Ti-Ni looping after New Moon, cringeworthy amount of inferior Fe

change my mind about Cullens
Carlisle too much Ti for extravert leads Si instead ISFJ
Esme Ni PoLR meaning ESFJ
All Bella's friends use Fe the only characters you can sympathize w/
