Corona / Wuhan virus

16 people helping others in Japan have contracted this.

Over twice as many deaths as the SARS years ago.

Over EIGHT times the infections than SARS years ago.

11 million people in or near Wuhan have now been quarantined from leaving.

What was the timeline of this virus outbreak and the street riots in China prior to its being brought to light?

It seems bazaar to me that the news coverage of the protestors was gone in an instant.

A few searches, if they have not all been purged, should show the extremely close proximity of the two. The protests started back in July, I think. There are protests going on now about the blockade and quarantine of 11 million people.

Makes me wary of touching anything "Made in China" being exported currently. I sure wouldn't be receiving containers and such until this has ended. Nothing like playing with fire, which should kill the virus in my opinion.

It sure enough is going to give China an economic hit. Now Hong Kong is feeling economic pressures as well.

Saddening any direction I view it from.

I've read China's push for economic growth may have helped turn a blind eye to properly legal procedure for health laws. This was going to happen sooner or later.

Its the times we live in, growth at all costs, even people's wellbeing.

The sooner this is over with though the sooner people's lives can get back to normal and trade can resume.

Hopefully Xi Jinping will do a clamp down on improper conduct around health infractions after this all. Will be a good thing for the Chinese people as a whole.

For anybody who wants to watch any updates that involves no fear mongering; I recommend this reputable doctor right here who is highly invested and keeps frequent daily updates regarding COVID-19.

Would prefer to watch someone who is medically credible, does thorough research and keeps his content straightforward, and not involved so deeply in the media that is known for extreme fear mongering and negativity. Been avoiding anything that the news covers, especially WHO that has been lacking transparency.

Here is the video that he covered yesterday:

He has also covered many previous videos regarding the coronavirus and does have a playlist particularly for this subject if anyone is more interested to watch more of his vids.

There is an interesting phenomena: whoever is taking the virus seriously, is immediately portrayed as hysterical and contributing to fear.

Some people are just too cynical IMO and see the whole thing as a media exaggeration to scare/get readers. This is way too simplistic of a position. It's fair to say that position is critical now. North Italy is in lock down and public events (such as football matches) were cancelled.

Over 90% of people infected will survive. That's pretty good. Its not world ending.

That said, the less than 10% includes the old and the young. Having the deaths of children on their hands is not a good look for a government.

Precautions are understandable.

Give a few months for the virus to burn itself out and life will get back to normal.

We eliminated Small Pox and we survived with it for centuries. This virus is a wannabe.

The result of stifling environmental activism can be seen in Wuhan. Home to a bustling port along the Yangtze River, the city has grown rapidly as China’s economy developed. The urban sprawl has made it harder to find locations for incinerators needed to dispose of the 12,000 tons of garbage produced daily by Wuhan’s 11 million residents.

As the campaigning residents of Wuhan found to their cost, pushing back against the authorities is a serious matter. More recently they switched tactics to try and draw the central government’s attention to their plight. But according to Zhang, Wuhan officials have blocked their attempts to reach Beijing, monitoring when they book tickets to travel to the capital.

One of the paradoxes of the Chinese system is that even as President Xi Jinping has made fighting pollution one of his main goals, civil society has been greatly restricted under his rule. That leaves little room for public discourse and open criticism of government policy..........................all copied

Meanwhile, in Hong Kong:
https://abcnews.go.com/Internationa...tear-gas-hong-kong-protesters-ending-67747834

This was published December 16, 2019. News of the virus came around December 19, 2019. Two birds with one stone...

This is far from over. Sounds a lot like Chronic Wasting Disease in deer, when the population becomes too large. Two trillion pounds of garbage a year in Wuhan is produced by the citizens. Now, it would be half that if half the people died. God knows what they are breathing.

Climate change or world pollution, I wonder?

With 6 deaths here in Iran (as the government said-which is total crap) we are now the second most infected country.
Schools and unis are shut down until Friday.

We are preparing to hold classes online. They can't control anything and there are no measures being taken other than that.

8 deaths
Almost all countries have closed their borders with Iran.

Numbers of death and infected are much more than this. But they just don't say it since it is in their nature to lie.

A nurse from a hospital just sent a msg to one or my colleagues saying that the whole hospital has cancelled all their wars and it's full of corona patients.

The government is doing nothing!

At this point, I'm not even sure if I survive this.

You will survive, don't worry. Most adults deaths but the majority will survive.will recieve flu like symptoms and recover within 2 or 3 weeks.

The problem is every nation is trying to stop it spreading as it could kill a lot of old and young. If things get so bad they can't control it there will be a wave of infection and deaths but things will stablise.

Like I said in my previous post, we've had worse viruses and eliminated them. It did take a decade to elimiate Smallpox but if Corona virus does get out of control we can probably eliminate that in about half that time.

Iran has the problem (as far as I am aware, you may have a better view) that a lot of resources go to the military. Moving those resources back to the civilian sector is something they won't want to do (because its the source of their power) and when it gets to a critical point they may finally do begrudgingly (if the alternative is a breakdown of the civilian sector).
