Corona / Wuhan virus

giphy.gif
(sorry)
:D

From what little has been posted online that the virus likely has been active in the population since late October or early November and it mutated into its current form in late December. From healthcare providers and officials in the region are reporting unofficially that possibly tens of thousands could be infected but the official fatality rate is still low being around 3% with up to two week period before showing symptoms. The scary part is that the infected can infect others long before there are any symptoms, CT scans detected signs of pneumonia in some patients before visible signs like coughing and discomfort.

Like a lab "accidentally forgot" to seal a specimen and....oops...did we(China) do that?...[thousands of people die from coronavirus]...China: woopsie-daisy, well at least the population is becoming a little more manageable
I don't know how reliable Daily Mail is but, look (zombies)

@dragulagu i'm derailing your thread, I'm sorry :(

But on a slightly more serious note, I really can't help but wonder.

Omg...I was just kinda "joking"[partially-to-halfway] - I hope we're not right [p.s. don't you hate when that happens?]
Well not really. I secretly enjoy it.

But wait, 20miles and fumites at winter with high levels of humidity. Is it really a possibility?

I've heard that most of the casualties are actually being caused by poor sanitation, an emphasis on traditional remedies (despite them not working), and a lack of resources/coordination on the part of the government.

Supposedly the highest echelons of the Chinese government has already fled to an island and the president of China has called the situation "grim".

So, currently there's a massive progression by China through international contact (in comparison to SARS), they contacted WHO after 3 weeks and
are working together with international health organisations, the WHO and the CDC, bravo China.
There's still a chance for a pandemic outbreak, however, as things are looking now it seems to be going the right direction in regards to the preventing it.

I'd say, just follow up the daily WHO reports: https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/situation-reports , they state the current international situation.

The disease is still spreading, but there is at least some certain control on the situation (both on spread and survival), hopefully the treatment will be there in time.
Humanity has seen worse.

Me: *buys mask to protect myself*
Mask: *made in China*

Oh.

I didn't like this...
One reason being, that if the theory of a leak be true, I don't believe its origin was China, rather China was picked as ground zero. They could possibly be a target for something horrific like a pathogen because of its dense population, and multiple transports in and out.

Doesn't look good that at the current rate there could be up to 16,000 confirmed cases by the end of the week but worse still at the current rate it could be much much higher as next month passes by.

Thank you for this. Very helpful. Although I didn't know Viet Nam and Singapore were Western Pacific countries. If anything, it's my first time to hear of such geographical reference.
