I think 'proven' constitutes a bit of a spin on the available evidence.
Interesting, it would be good to see why this might be the case in Norway. Besides fluoride.

oh its not just been shown in norway its happening across the west

Are we becoming more STUPID? IQ scores are decreasing - and some experts argue it's because humans have reached their intellectual peak
  • IQs have largely increased since the 1930s thanks to better living conditions and education - a trend known as the Flynn effect
  • But IQ test results suggest people in the UK, Denmark and Australia have become less intelligent in the past decade
  • Opinion is divided as to whether the downwards trend is long-term
  • Some studies have shown the average IQ of Westerners has plunged 10 points or more since Victorian times and others claim it will keep decreasing
  • But other experts argue that even if we are becoming more stupid, better healthcare and technology means the 'problem' will regulate itself

Technology may be getting smarter, but humans are getting dumber, scientists have warned.

Evidence suggests that the IQs of people in the UK, Denmark and Australia have declined in the last decade.

Opinion is divided as to whether the trend is long-term, but some researchers believe that humans have already reached intellectual peak.

@Rowan Tree people like kinglear are one of the primary hurdles of actual utopia

I'm an optimist about people, given the right social system and institutions.

Sperm counts in the West plunge by 60% in 40 years as ‘modern life’ damages men’s health

I've heard about that somewhere before. I'd have to examine the specifics, though. Inclined to agree that we don't do enough to protect people from harmful environmental factors.

Not a great citation.

UK, Denmark and Australia

'The west' is a quite nebulous notion, this list of three countries more specific though. It would be interesting to look for a shared feature. Mind, IQ is such a hazy thing, it might all be down to the inadequacy of the test itself. Like, for example, are all these IQ tests the same? I mean, equally rigorous, somehow comporable tests? Are they the same across time as well as place, for example:

plunged 10 points or more since Victorian times

I mean, that raises questions, no?

some researchers believe that humans have already reached intellectual peak.

Stuff like this is why I hate 'science' journalism.

the news paper is only the platform that is mentioning a study

so what matters is not the platform but the study

'The west' is a quite nebulous notion,

its happening across the northern americas, japan and europe and australasia where people are being exposed to the same kind of things

those things are also being used elsewhere in the world but those areas are likely not being studied as well
