Jordan Peterson

Do you guys think he's an INFJ? :m083:

Quite possibly. INFx at the very least.

I strongly resonate with him for some reasons.

I've a few reservations, although in terms of peoples' sources of self-help, psychological cultivation, etc. I have a whatever works philosophy. But he buys into some dubious evo psych stuff (the lobster thing is trivially true or substantively false, depending on how far you read into his inferences) and his hostility to the left is distressingly conspiratorial—see, neo-Marxist Postmodernism. He can also be uncharitable, such as his unwillingness to debate Marxists after falsely claiming (ignorantly or not) that they wouldn't debate him. Indeed, he has a poor understanding of the radical left, but pontificates on it freely such as by falsely claiming Marx believed in 'equality of outcome'.

I have a friend who's a bit into JP and we go back and forth with this stuff. I'll grant the guy this much, he's tapped into a genuine gap in public discourse about things like the good life. And JP likes Jung, on which I'm in agreement.

I heard about that too, which I'm all ears in any cases. It's probably the reasons why some people find him questionable, even downright pseudo-intellectual. He's good at some and bad at some. I however need to research on this more since I haven't grasped all the contexts people mentioned about.

The reason why I resonate with him is the way he thinks and expresses, and the radical audacity to cross a lot of uncomfortable zones (by his own perceived 'for a greater good'?) which I quite admire. I also like Jung (agreed with you on this) as he's the first famous person I resonate to, ever.

Douglas Lain is probably JP's best critic from the left. He's done a bit on YouTube critiquing JP's claims around socialism.

Well, I have Uchiha Itachi as my profile pick; so I can definitely relate

Thanks for recommendation, I'll find Douglas Lain's channel.

I've never read Naruto so I don't get the reference, sorry. (He's from Naruto, right?)

(He's from Naruto, right?)

Yep  Despite the misleading title, he's the main character.

In the video below Jordan Peterson discusses his results for the Big 5 model:

Agreeableness:
Compassion 75-80
Politeness 30-40

Conscientiousness:
Industriousness 99
Orderliness 70-75

Extraversion:
Enthusiasm 75-80
Assertivenes 99

Neuroticism:
Withdrawal "not very high"
Volatility "pretty volatile"

Openness to Experience:
Intellect 99
Openness 95+

Agreeableness maps to F/T, Conscientiousness maps to J/P, Extroversion maps to E/I and Openness to Experience maps to N/S in the MBTI model.
This would make him an ENFJ.

I suppose he doesn't use MBTI or Enneagram  as a respectable clinical psychologist.

But who know? :tongueout:

Though I did the Big 5 test before and following your mapping, I'm INTJ not INFJ.

:meye:Deception! :mcute: Disgrace!

Just kidding. I think Big 5's test result depends on test taker's mood each day. My results change over times. I personally don't think it's really reliable, though.

Yes, I realize the mapping isn't perfect. It breaks down a bit when you have a strong F and a strong T, for example.

Oh, if only I were INTJ. :D

I'll take it again tonight, though. The Big 5, that is. @Rowan Tree - How about you do it too, and we share results? To compare how the "strong Ti" INFJs fare ;)

I have found this to be the case with the MBTI and Enneagram as well.

It makes sense that your mood influences your self-perception, which in turn influences the results on a self-reporting test. :)

Honestly though, regarding Jordan Peterson, I've always leaned towards thinking he was an extrovert.

Ni user, that I'm almost certain of. But it's weird, sometimes he seems to be using Ti a lot, sometimes Te, sometimes Fe, etc.

When I saw the highlight saying "Pin has responded to the thread..." I was like: he's gonna say Peterson is ENTJ.

Damn, you surprised me. :D
Not this time.

Paul Ryan (Yes, that Paul Ryan), for example, is an ENTJ. There is an obvious difference between the temperaments of Paul Ryan and Peterson.
