Dear INTPs

I've always found them a strange personality and they're among my least favorite.

What's the point of knowledge if you're not applying it and using it to enhance your own life?

Knowledge for its own sake is pointless. Use what you know and make some damn money.

Create something, achieve something!

That's not even close to true though. Maybe you should get off the internet for a bit.

That pre-supposes you know everything, you can't be all-powerful and still do good unless you're knowledgeable. But with all your climbing to the top, you probably won't have time to ponder EVERYTHING it's far too time consuming... If only there were a group of people who thought about everything and accumulated knowledge on everything endlessly who you could use for advice... if only.
Fair enough, the stereotypical INTP has their use.

At first I thought this might be my cue as an INTP to talk about what all I've accomplished in my life (plenty) and how I've enhanced myself over the years (a great deal) or how much money I've made (much more than enough).

But then I remembered that I don't owe any sort of explanation or apology to some random nobody on the Internet.

I will say however that it's awesome not having Te as one of my top two functions. In fact, I'm absurdly thankful for it. It means I don't have to kiss ass and play by other people's rules to get ahead.

No need to bite. Let's all get along

All right, I understand why you're expressing frustration. However, I wasn't personally referring to you or anyone else. I was referring to the stereotypical INTP.

I think you might be treading on thin ice

Honestly, I didn't expect such responses. As a result, I've changed my initial post to fix this.
What? Why? don't get me wrong I love @infinite dreams... but fuck changing your post. If I.D. really is living a successful life with plenty of money he can't really be that upset can he? Don't stick if ya don't believe it. He was just issuing a rebuttal, that's all.

Also let's not pretend that the idea that some INTPs are lazy underachievers is the most insane thing we've ever heard. It's true, now INTPs can overcome this- but there are some who don't and it's not offensive to point that out... And if it is offensive to point that out, fuck it, say it anyways.

Fortunately, we're all now aware of the INTPs are lazy stereotype. I'll resist the temptation of reiterating that.

What is the stereotypical INTP like to you? Could you provide a person, a historical figure perhaps, who you believe is INTP?

I'll resist the temptation of reiterating that because I will likely over-do it.
Give in to the darkness, resistance is futile.

I fit almost all the typical stereotypes of INTPs except for two key areas:

1. I am not a computer whiz
and
2. I have no foreign language skills whatsoever.

I've tried to get into these two topics at numerous different points in my life, but I guess I never actually.... well cared really. Otherwise, I think I'm an INTP down the check list, good and bad. I'm terribly lazy but I'm trying very hard to overcome it. I wouldn't call myself an underachiever, but some might see me that way and that's fine.

On the historical figure front, Einstein is always everyone's favorite.

Einstein was a successful person, albeit a lazy successful person (you gave me permission). What topics have consistently captured your interest?

I started watching the History channel when I was 5 years old (which confused my parents a little a first) and have had a love of history ever since. I got into classic movies in my late teens and I think that might be my greatest obsession in life... although it's hard to say. I'm a gamer, strategy (StarCraft, Command and Conquer before EA ruined it) mostly. I dabble in philosophy, politics, society and the like. @Wyote's "describe your musical essence thread" has taught me that i'm far more serious about music than I ever realized before...

Really though i'm into a million different topics, to quote (I think Paul Lynde):

"I don't know a lot about anything, but I know a little bit about almost everything."
