Yesterday, I did the keys2cognition.com cognitive function test. I'm not sure how accurate my answers were given or evaluated, specifically because the pool of questions was so small. Anyway, just as an example I'm posting a screenshot I made of my results. Some of them were very surprising to me.

How do you score on this test? Do you think it's accurate, or rather, do you think it's more accurate than a standard MBTI test?

Thank you for the test I feel like it would help a lot of people one of the better tests for sure.

Exceptionally poor wording on this test. I quit half way through. It was like it was created by someone with poor English deliberately trying to be vauge.
This is the first test I've never finished.

This test sucked. First of all, there were no real judging/perceiving questions, so it misdiagnosed me as INFP. Anyone who knows me knows that my "J" is off the chart high. I would never get mistaken for a "P" ... ever!!

On question #1, they asked, "Do you follow your gut instincts and physical impulses?" This is a dual question. I couldn't answer it because I always follow my gut instincts, but never my physical impulses. One measures intuition, while the other measures sensing. What kind of joker puts that all together!?!? It needs to be two separate questions. I agree with EH that the wording was bizarre in spots.

There is just no way that this test is as valid as they claim. What a bunch of idiots... they can't even do basic psychometrics. Also, it's extremely rare for any function to be "unused." If it was unused, then you'd be dead or severely impaired, because life moves quickly and people have to constantly adapt. In the real world, everyone uses every function... so the "worst" result in any category should have been "limited function." "Unused" would be like Amelia Bedelia, or someone with a lobotomy or something ridiculous... makes no sense to say "unused."

I wish there were a dislike button. Worst test ever.

PS: I took the official MBTI test, and was given the INFJ rating by an official psychologist, so that is what I am comparing this test to.

There is very shaky connection between the dichotomies and any version of the functions tests. I'd basically view them as separate systems. I think people can OFTEN score something like INTJ and be something more like a Te-dom, and that it's a mistake to tell them they're 'mistyped' as an INTJ on that account. That these are widely claimed to be linked is based on a very, very unsupported speculation begun by Myers, but people essentially continue with it like a dogma, misleading the unacquainted.

The dichotomies correlate to the Big 5 dimensions. The functions are an offshoot of Jung's theory that is more adapted to the dichotomies -- but still quite far from them.

The first step to shaking things up is simply realizing common assumptions are simply not agreed on by experts. Jung's scheme would totally say a NiTi type is NOT an F type, rather a NT type. He didn't think there's anything strange about these being together. Yet it's essentially taken unquestioned. Ironically, Jung NEVER typed anyone as having opposite attitudes in their top two functions unless the auxiliary was more unconscious than conscious -- vs he was very fine with someone like nietzsche being Ni+Ti, as is shown in both Ch. III and Ch. X of Psychological Types.

Once you view the functions models as speculative, you think more critically and then come to a better understanding of what's really being said, and I tried to make a version of the theory up, using my ideas + the best ones I could find of all the theorists. I recommend people try to do the same.

Everyone try this one it's one of the only tests that didn't give me INTJ or INTP

That test is rubbish. 3 options, 2 to choose from, but it doesn't give any choice for nouance. It merely gives points for letters, and doesn't put the functions into consideration at all. It said INTP, which I really don't identify as at all.

Edit: This one is much better, this and the 16personalities one. At least as it stands for now.

It's the only one that gave me a different answer.

And why is that, ever thought about it?

And besides, tests can't give you different results every time you take them when you give the same answers over again (subconscious). They are more of an introduction into the dynamics (for those who are interested) than anything else. There are even experts who find out their real type years after testing.

That happened the first 5 times I took the test after that I really thought about it heck even tried to be a different type example if I got INTJ I tried to be more of a feeler yet still be honest I got the same results

It gave me INTx lol

That is usually the time to stop taking tests and get into the theory. You really don't listen and I am tired of repeating myself to you. You can't expect others to do your work for you.

I took this test last week (forgot to post response).....first test ever to tell me to go back and revisit some of my responses (is that even allowed!)....hmmmm! Bizarre - so I did (to generate a result) and ended up with INFJ . :m190:

Forgot to answer a question? This is the only reason that I can think of in which this could occur.

Umm, I disagree. I don't feel where I am ENFP. Yet, I have tested as ENFP before :)

Your Cognitive Development Profile
The forty-eight questions you rated earlier tap into the eight cognitive processes. Some questions tapped into basic or developed use of a process used by itself, while other questions tapped into use of multiple processes at once. The profile below is based on your responses. The number of squares indicate strength of response. The equivalent numeric is shown in parentheses along with likely level of development.

Cognitive Process Level of Development (Preference, Skill and Frequency of Use)
extraverted Sensing (Se) **************************************** (40.1)
excellent use
introverted Sensing (Si) *********** (11.8)
unused
extraverted Intuiting (Ne) ******************************************** (44)
excellent use
introverted Intuiting (Ni) *********************************** (35.8)
good use
extraverted Thinking (Te) ************ (12.4)
unused
introverted Thinking (Ti) ********************* (21.9)
limited use
extraverted Feeling (Fe) ****************************** (30.2)
good use
introverted Feeling (Fi) ******************************************** (44.2)
excellent use

Summary Analysis of Profile
By focusing on the strongest configuration of cognitive processes, your pattern of responses most closely matches individuals of this type: ENFP

Lead (Dominant) Process
Extraverted Intuiting (Ne): Exploring the emerging patterns. Wondering about patterns of interaction across various situations. Checking what hypotheses and meanings fit best. Trusting what emerges as you shift a situation’s dynamics.

Support (Auxilliary) Process
Introverted Feeling (Fi): Staying true to who you really are. Paying close attention to your personal identity, values and beliefs. Checking with your conscience. Choosing behavior congruent with what is important to you.

If these cognitive processes don't fit well then consider these types: INFP, or ESFP

Hi @Ginny, I went through every question so didn't leave any blanks. This is the prompt it came up with (cut and copied directly from the site with typos too :tonguewink:)....

"You answered almost all the questionas as 'exactly like you,' which cannot give a useful picture of your development. Please use the 'Back' button to complete the questionnaire in a more realistic manner.

"Mostly me/Exactly me" were the two options that fitted me the best but apparently I'm not being realistic.

Got INTP this time....hmmmmm.

If the test is based on probability and algorithmic calculations, then of course rationally speaking you shouldn't be able to answer every question with "Exactly like me", because then they couldn't make any assessment regarding type. It's the same as with others who seemingly have Ti as their farthest developed function, but then saying Ti ticks them off the most (the most likely indicator for PoLR Ti). But we did establish that this test (like any other) has flaws, only this one being a lot dumber because it wants to seperate from the usual MBTI tests, asking for the functions directly instead of making distinctions by letters, which is about the stupidest things that one can do. This is how mistypes get made, that and an unrealistic sense of self.
