  • I think you've done a fine job of expressing yourself. I also fully agree with you! Nihilism is lame. I think the true relationship we have with the universe is much more interesting and meaningful than being some teacher's pet anyway.

I do think we are special in some way... Not better than everything else, but special none the less. Of course, all life is the same in that regard.

It's sad to see those divisions you mention in the first paragraph. I think you're right about people discounting other's connections to the universe just because they don't match their own. We are interwoven into the universe on all those levels: through humanity, through kinship of all life and through the natural world. Denying some because an individual feels a stronger draw towards another doesn't seem to wise to me. To be sure, most probably will feel a stronger draw toward one facet but that's a reflection of our diversity and only serves to bring me more appreciation for the humanity side of things.

    Hay, what's your GW2 toon's name?
It's hard when we live in a world where spirituality and atheism are thought to be mutually exclusive. I do my best to show both sides what spirituality really is. I think humanity could benefit a lot by seeing that it doesn't take deity to have a deeply spiritual connection with the universe.

I'm actually working on that from another angle right now! I'll mention spirituality a bit and share from an atheist spirituality perspective but I won't really go too strong with trying to popularize atheist spirituality concepts, even though I'm going to try to instill some of its teachings. So this is my immediate future: 11,700 miles, 2.4 years, 32 states:

"The natural world has a direct influence on humanity's psyche. Psychology regularly produces works showing this relationship. Often, the natural world is used in therapeutic fashions. I submit to you that the whole of humanity requires healthy ecosystems for our psyches to thrive. The evidence for that lies in our affinity for sunsets, waterfalls, butterflies, wildflowers, the night sky... Our affinity for the natural world is undeniable. We want to vacation in paradise. We often put as much of natural beauty as we can in our back yards. The relationship is not entirely conscious but we feel the need for green spaces and national parks. I love the natural world and I want to share that love with as many people as I can. NATURE-Trek amounts to a grassroots effort to build greater appreciation for the natural world simply by sharing a bit of its beauty. Its intent is also to popularize works that make clear associations between nature and our psychological well being. My dream is to share the beauty of the natural world, and why it matters to us in the first place."

Maybe sharing a bit about what I'm up to could help open some dialogue about spirituality being a fundamental human trait
and what I means for us all, atheist or not. The faster we build community, the faster we improve the world! =)
Well, if I'm to be a freak, might as well give it a cool name like iconoclast. =)

Part of my viewpoint includes building community around atheist spirituality. It's gonna have to come out of the closet and build community in plain sight for it to do much good.

That's too bad. I've seen some of your poems and stories. We may be built differently but I think we're equally insightful. Keeping quiet doesn't serve your fellow human well.
Ah! You're very welcome. How exciting to hear you're thinking about it and considering it from many angles (i bet). :)
You're an attractive woman with a lot to offer who is entering the prime of her life. I have the utmost confidence in you finding someone worthy of you. I know that can be a little more challenging for an INFJ than most... But I also know that has a lot to do with the quality of relationship you require. It might take a little while but it will be worth every moment of waiting.

Iconoclast. Nice term. =) Actually, it suits me well. Thanks for the compliment.
    lol

    damn. rough...

okay... I'm close to twice your age and I have no degree. + I have no career. I work as independent contractor, fixing houses, unlicensed. That keeps me small time. + I spent most of my adult life as an adventure trekker. That compounds the career issue because now, not only is my work record illegitimate, it's patchy... So, from the get go, I'm not exactly in the same social standing most thirty-somethings are. Most have a career and are done with academia.

The best part is: I'm about as fringe as they come. I'm probably the most blasphemous person alive. There's an active thread I started in the religion section here explains part of that. I'm also exceptionally scientifically blasphemous. There are few threads on INTJf make that clear. I more or less deny the whole of modern science.

My social life is iffy. I have friends but none are really close to me. Even the ones I consider family, I cant really relate to well. No one gives a fuck about the things I'm preoccupied with. Pressing the properties and intricacies of time, QM, relativity, Plasma, spirituality, governance, agriculture, transportation, natural resources, medicine, infrastructure... You know that constant mind chatter we INTJs have? That's all I have going on up there. No, I didn't see the show, game, movie... I don't deeply relate to anyone.

If you're keeping score, I chased knowledge and spirituality my whole life and that's all I have to show for it. I'm a freak of society, that's what I amount to! The funny thing is, history might give a damn about me but not many in this world think I'm worth a shit.

It's all good. I'll pour my love in to this world one way or another. Being alone just means I have more time to focus on braking those who subjugate this planet.
Oh ya, the climate/atmoshpere/environment here is much warmer. It is a lot less confrontational here. I like getting my geek on in INTJf. Here, it's more about socilization and growing (-EQ). I definately share more of myself here. That's 97% of my motivation to be here. I love dating INFJs so the other 3% is all part of my evil plan to woo an INFJ. Then again, I not exactly normal in any fashion; My odds of staying alone far exceede 97%. So much for my evil plan. =)

Thanks! It is heart warming to know what I'm doing with my life is appreciated by someone.
You are very kind. I aspire to be worthy of them... That's why i'm here! This world needs good leadership and I don't see anyone else taking care of business. Being less than entirely mature/enlightened is not news to me. I'm hoping some EQ around here will rub off on me. INFJs rock. =)
Very nice. Glad to see you here! Hope you enjoy your stay... OMG, they will love your deer here. =)

Still want to know what my tarot card was. =) lol
