What songs make you feel better when your sad or depressed

I listen to different bands when I'm going through different emotional stages.

If I need to cheer up:

Free Bird by skynard
The Passenger - Iggy pop

Vent my anger: Metallica

Anxious/nervous/stressed: Rage against the machine

When I need to think: Tool

When I'm thinking too much and need to relieve: Pink Floyd.

If I'm having emotional angst dealing with love, which isn't all that often, I listen to mayday parade

If I'm just normal depressed, I listen to depressing and songs with weight in them or more antagonistic.

The most depressing song in the whole world, in my opinion:

I have more songs that put me in a good mood, though. Here's a few of 'em

Without fail. LOL. I love Billy.

I like to indulge in melancholy state by listening to songs which resonate with my mood rather than songs that make it feel "better".

:m068:

Me too! But ironically it always make me feel better

Most Celtic music does it for me. Or classical. Anything w/o lyrics as I don't want any verbal overlays getting in the way of pure feeling. I like music that releases me from the present and places me in time....puts things in perspective from a longer view.

I couldn't find the song anywhere so I cut it out from the film itself and uploaded it. Short, but good!

The song is ok, but the video always puts a smile on my face!!!!!

I think one song and video that always cheers me up, is:

Wierd Al Yankovic's "White and Nerdy".

HAH! Me too.

"They see me mowing... my front LAWN!"

Thank you for all answers in advance.
It varies, but usually it just happens that a song comes on the radio and speaks to my heart in some way.

The last time I remember having a song overwhelmingly comfort me that way, it was this song... I burst into tears while I was driving...

In The Waiting by Greg Long

Pain
The gift nobody longs for, still it comes
And somehow leaves us stronger when it's gone

away

Pray
I try and pray for Your will to be done
But I confess it's never fast enough for me

It seems

The hardest part is waiting on You
When what I really want
Is just to see Your hand move

chorus:

I want a peace beyond my understanding
I want to feel it fall like rain
In the middle of my hurting
I want to feel Your arms as they surround me
And let me know that it's okay
To be here in this place
Resting in the peace that only comes
In the waiting

Time
Time to let it go and just believe
Trusting in what no one else but You can see
Free

Freedom from the fears that close me in
When I can't get beyond where I have been, but then

Again

The silence doesn't mean that I'm alone
As long as I can hear
That I am still Your own :

Greg's recording of this song is exquisitely produced... couldn't find it online.

Exactly what does it for me as well.

Restraint introduced me to this song, it helps me a lot when I'm down. It really is spirit-lifting.
